George Molinda died peacefully at 93, in a family home surrounded by his loving family. A lifelong bachelor he was born and lived his entire life in the family home in Munhall Garden. He spent his youth running the streets and playgrounds up on the hill around Vine St. He graduated in 1946 from Munhall high school and enlisted in the Navy. He spent his service time in the desert in California as an airplane mechanic, and always joked that he never boarded a ship while in the Navy. After hitch hiking back from California after his Navy service he went to trade school to learn drafting and worked at several companies including Westinghouse before spending most of his career at Mesta Machine Co. in West Homestead. He was an avid photographer and traveled around Pennsylvania and the US taking pictures which he developed in his own darkroom. He was very generous with his many nieces and nephews and made our Christmases and birthdays something to remember. He lived with his mother Ann and took special care of her until she died at 100 yrs.
Uncle George was a great Pittsburgh guy and enjoyed hockey originally as a Pittsburgh Hornets season ticket holder. He spent 14 years with the love of his life Rosie of Lincoln Park. They loved to go dancing. There has never been a picture of him not smiling. We will miss him. He was preceded in death by his father John, his mother Anna, and his sister, Ann.He is survived by his brother John, Pittsburgh and his sister Dorothy, Orange Co. California. He also has 10 nieces and nephews, and 23 great nieces and nephews. A traditional viewing and funeral will be deferred due to the Covid situation. He will be buried at the military Cemetery of the Alleghenies at a future date. A celebration of his life will follow at at a time and date to be announced.
