John A. "Johnny" Zedo, of West Mifflin, formerly of Charleston, SC, peacefully passed away on August 3, 2022, at the age of 59. He was the son of Rosemarie (Shimko) and the late Edward Zedo; brother of David Zedo; nephew of Barbara (Guy) Melocchi; cousin of Anthony (Kim) Melocchi, Lori (John) Jumba, Sharon Chornyak, and Robert Tenner; second cousin of Maria and Joe Melocchi, Emily and Jacob Jumba, Joe (Kelly) Chornyak, Robert "Bobby" Tenner, and Erika (Bill) Talaga, along with their families; and is survived by many wonderful Navy friends.
Johnny proudly served in the US Navy aboard the USS Klakring FFG-42 during the Gulf War, and was a 30-year member of Dorchester Lodge # 369 of North Charleston, SC, of which he was voted Head Master four times in 1999, 2002, 2012, and 2015. He was also a member of Resurrection Church of the St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, the Paralyzed Veterans of America, the Omar Shrine of Mt. Pleasant, SC, the Mifflin Club, the American Slovak Citizens Club, the GBU of Duquesne, a 6-year member of the Elk #883 of Braddock, and was a lifetime member of the NRA.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, August 7, 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, PA 15120, where a Masonic Service will take place at 7 PM. A Blessing Service will take place the following morning on Monday, August 8, 11 AM, at the funeral home.
Johnny will join his brothers and sisters in arms at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
