William Harvey Obituary

William A. "Harv" Harvey, age 61, of West Mifflin, passed peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Son of the late William C. and Emma (Pesta) Harvey; beloved husband of 30 years of Diane (Rojtas) Harvey; brother of Lois (Michael) Maranowski and the late Scott Harvey; son-in-law of the late Paul P. and Alice Rojtas; brother-in-law of Paul T. (Mary Cay) Rojtas, Ken Rojtas, Steve "Beak" (Cindy) Rojtas, and Ron (Jamie) Rojtas; dear uncle of Gregory Maranowski, Bryan Rojtas, Nikki Marsula, Dan Rojtas, Sascha Rojtas, Jayme Lynn Laughlin, Missy Laughlin, Kelli Rojtas and Ryan Rojtas. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and great-nephews.

Bill was a 1977 graduate of West Mifflin North High School and a 1980 graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. He began his career in graphic design/advertising working 22 years at Iron City Sash & Door Company in Greentree. He then transitioned to the automobile business working at John Seretti Chevrolet, Tom Clark Chevrolet, and, most recently, Riverview Chevrolet in McKeesport. Bill was an avid photographer taking wedding photography for more than 20 years. He was the videographer for the Seton-LaSalle varsity football team for 35 years, proudly wearing the Rebels' green and gold. He enjoyed bowling in the Thompson Club/Mulligan's men's bowling league serving as Treasurer for 14 years. Bill was a passionate and extraordinarily knowledgeable sports fan following not only the Penguins, Steelers and Pirates, but all professional sports teams. He co-founded the West Mifflin Franchise Football League in 1985 and served as commissioner for 35 years. Bill was a life-long member of St. Elias Byzantine Catholic Church in Munhall, where he designed and maintained the parish website. He also served as an usher, parish photographer and volunteer at various church fundraisers. He loved traveling with his wife and had a goal to visit all 50 states. That goal fell halfway short at 25 states.

Bill "Harv" will be greatly missed and always remembered by his loving family, co-workers and countless number of friends. A heart of gold stopped beating way too soon.
