George A. Hovanec, Sr.

Of Wilkins Twp., formerly of Munhall, on November 21, 2014, age 97.  Beloved husband of the late Pauline Agnes (Mojta) Hovanec; father of Joan (late Philip) Rhody, Catherine (Richard) Litz and George (Andrea Sloan) Hovanec, Jr.; brother of Margaret Banish, Irene Batchen, William Hovanec, Emily Horvath, Agnes Povazan and the late John Hovanec, Frank Hovanic, Stephen Hovanec, Charles Hovanec and Lawrence Hovanec; grandfather of Pamela Rhody, David Rhody, Karen (Jim) Murray, William Litz, Andrew Litz, Jeffrey Litz, Matthew (Katherine) Hovanec, Timothy (Amanda) Hovanec and Daniel Hovanec; great-grandfather of Jimmy, Joshua and Jacob Murray, Morgan Litz, Kiley and Amora McNeal-Litz, Holly and Emma Hovanec; also survived by nieces, nephews and family. George was an Expiditor for U. S. Steel Homestead Works, a Marine veteran where he served proudly in Guadalcanal in the Pacific during WWII, a member of the Tri-Valley Seniors which he served as Treasurer for many years, and was a member of St. Michael Parish and St. Colman Parish.  Friends received Savolskis-Wasik-Glenn Funeral Home, Inc., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, Tuesday, December 2, 2014,  2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm.  Funeral Mass Wednesday, December, 3, 2014,  10 am, St. Colman Church, Turtle Creek.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to United States Marine Veterans Inc., 660 Pettigrew Road, North Huntington, PA 15642.
