Helen E. (Pribila) Smetana

Of Munhall, on April 12, 2015, age 87.  Beloved wife of the late Charles V. Smetana; devoted mother of Susan (husband, Jeff Popko) Butala, Lynn (husband, David) Forsythe, Jean (husband, William) Rager and Chuck (wife, Trisanne) Smetana; sister of the late Michael, Mary, Jerry, Paul, Tony and Lydia; loving Grandma/“Bambi” to Jessica, Courtney, Lauren, Paige, Danielle, Stephanie, Jenna and Christian.  Helen was a 1945 graduate of Vincentian High School where she played the violin in the school orchestra.  She was employed by Matthew’s in the 1950’s and by the Carnegie Library of Homestead from the 1980’s through the 1990’s.  Helen also performed volunteer work at St. Michael Elementary School in Munhall where her children attended and was a devoted and faithful Catholic and member of St. Michael Church and later St. Maximilian Kolbe Church.   She was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan and watched or listened to every game.  Mom/Grandma/Bambi: We will love you forever, and as you said to us; “Till we meet again”.  Friends received Savolskis-Wasik-Glenn Funeral Home, Inc., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, Tuesday 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 pm.  Funeral Mass Wednesday 10:00 am, St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, Homestead.
