Homer R. “Hoot” Spangler
Homer R. “Hoot” Spangler, 88 years young, passed away on June 7, 2015 in Dallas, Texas, formerly of West Mifflin and Port Vue. He is preceded in death by his first wife Ruth (Lane) Spangler and son Daniel “Willie” Spangler. He is survived by his daughter, Darla (Rege) Urban and grandson, Danny of Munhall; sister, Erma (Don) Sharpe of Monroeville, and nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his wife Pauline (Lugarich) Spangler, stepdaughter Genny (Ted) Lutzel of Dallas, TX, stepson Joe (Donna) Maykut of Orlando, FL, and their five children.
Hoot worked for 42 years at U.S. Steel, Duquesne Works. He was a veteran of the United States Army during WWII. His true love and passion was singing, and he had the privilege of performing with the Point Four and Roadrunners Quartets. He was an avid sports fan, loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, attended many Super Bowls over the years, and also worked as a guard for the Pittsburgh Pirates at Forbes Field.
At Hoot’s request there will be no visitation. Graveside services will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 2 PM. Arrangements entrusted to Savolskis-Wasik-Glenn Funeral Home, Inc., Munhall.
