Leona "Nonie" (Asmonga) Gress

Of West Mifflin, on October 30, 2014, age 84.  The first baby born on January 1, 1930 in the Tri-State Area to the late Steven and Mary (Melnick) Asmonga in Homeville; Leona is survived by her beloved daughters, Judith Ann Gress of West Mifflin, whom she resided with and Leslie (Richard) Lea of Wheeling, WV; lovingly known as “Amma” she is also survived by her grandchildren Chip and Zack Vietmeier of West Mifflin, Jacob Lea of Milton, WV and Kaitlin (Lea) Harsh of Wheeling, WV; her twin great grandsons Grayson and Jameson Lea of Milton, WV and Ivy Rhea Harsh of Wheeling, WV; her siblings Joanne (Jack) Sedlak of Monroeville, Nancy (Gordo) Benedetti of Library, Stephen (Charlotte) Asmonga of West Homestead, Arthur (Prudie) Asmonga of West Homestead, Noreen (Dick) Robinson of Cochranton and also many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Gress, her brother Donald Asmonga and her sisters Judith Asmonga and Mary Lou Gedman.  Leona retired from CCAC South Campus as secretary after many years of service. She was the former director of PWBA and was inducted in October 1984, into the Greater Pittsburgh Hall of Fame Exceptional Performance.  Family and friends will be received at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall on Sunday from 2-9 PM.  A Funeral Mass will be Monday, 10:00 am at St. Therese Church, Munhall.  Interment to follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Munhall.
