I realized today, 20 years after graduating and teaching my own classes for 15 years, that I use your signature “Quizy Quiz” and. “Study up, Study Down, Study Sideways” lines quiet often, which always gives me a little laugh and flashback of your classroom.

I am very sad to hear of Mr. W's passing. My sincere sympathy to the family. I hope you have been able to read the tributes across facebook as his obituary was shared, and shared again. We all have wonderful memories of his class. I am happy he was on facebook and was able to know what he meant to us as many of his students sought him out to tell him. I also still use his jokes and one liners in my life all these years later. When I told my daughter about his passing she immediately said "GRINGO BUZZER!" God bless you I am thinking and praying for you.

Mr. Wal was possibly the greatest man I'll ever meet. I had him as a teacher and was so profoundly moved by his spirit. Every single time he would respond to one of my posts on Facebook over the years, he reminded me of the important things in life, as well as forced me to dust off my Spanish to translate his messages. The world is a darker place without his light, but I hope the rest of us can pull together and shine a little brighter for him. I will love and miss him always. To his family, you were the lucky ones to have had him and I hope the knowledge that he inspired and helped so many is a comfort in these trying days.

My Deepest Sympathies to the family of Mr. Walendziewicz,
Mr. W (as many of us students called him) was my Spanish 3 teacher in high school. He was a fantastic teacher and really made learning Spanish fun! He had a great sense of humor and was really engaging as a teacher--I loved his class! He was one of my all time favorite teachers ever...
May God Bless you all during this very difficult time. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, Kristen Algeri

Mr. Walendziewicz was the best teacher I ever had. I learned Spanish from him for 4 years and never had a teacher who cared about his students more. I also never had a class that was so much fun. I only hope everyone can have such a teacher in their life.

My daughter had your Father as a Spanish teacher and I met him numerous times. He was an awesome man-great teacher, great with the kids, excited by his work and an overall great influence. He will be missed here but I bet has important work to do for us all in heaven!

My deepest sympathies to the Walendziewicz family. I had Mr. Wal for 4 years in high school. He was certainly one of a kind. I never had a teacher with as much passion as him. You always left his class with a smile. I still tell his jokes to my wife (my mother-in-law's name is June, and when I hear her name I think "is your name June, or July to me?"). I was very saddened to hear this news, but it is very nice to see so many old students posting memories. I hope the family sees the impact he made, and I hope that Mr. Wal understood it too. Prayers to you all. - Roberto

Mr. Walendziewicz was one of the best teachers I have ever had. I speak of him often to my children, and most recently a few weeks ago when I took a flight from Puerto Rico and after only 2 years of Spanish, was able to converse with the woman beside me in an very basic way. That was due to the dynamic and fun way that he taught. Please know that he had a long term impact on so many, and that it was my privilege to be his student. His family is in my thoughts.

I had Mr. Wally for 4 years of Spanish...He taught me more than Spanish. Just a very kind helpful person- how we should all be. He was tutor to my brother Matt when he broke is leg in 3rd grade. He taught all of us Tzanakis' kids. I wish he would know that my 4 years of Spanish paid off- I lived in New Mexico for 4 years and many of the people there commented on my Spanish- and my accent--I proudly told them that my "Polish" Spanish teacher taught me. Muy Gracias Senor por mi Espanol.

Mr. Walendziewicz is the reason I teach Spanish. I was fortunate to substitute for him, and I am fortunate to carry on his traditions - including the corny jokes - at West Mifflin Area High School. My deepest condolences to Cheryl and Anne.
